New York Dream Center Zambia Mission Trip

June 14-23, 2017

Trip Update from Carrie Nichols, Team Leader

NYDC partnered with Teresa Kemp, founder of Breaking Chains International (www.breakingchainsint.org), a Florida-based ministry focused on reaching a broken and dying world with the power of Jesus Christ.  Teresa’s own powerful testimony of how she was saved in prison and now preaches at prisons all over the U.S. and Africa is what feeds her love of people.  Teresa networked to raise funds for 6 water wells ($35,000) and I worked to raise and additional $15,000.  NINE WATER WELLS funded for people in need!

The team was assembled from New York and Florida and again we set out with enthusiasm to hit the ground running and get our hands dirty.  Flying over 11,000 miles one way and using various modes of transportation to reach Sioma, Zambia, we made it.  The week was long and the work was exhausting, but exhilarating to see the joy on people’s faces as water would come shooting up out of the ground.  The team was able to help build wells, and also participate in some of the Children’s Churches they hold each week.  Training up the children and youth to know and hear the voice of God and impact their families, villages and nation for the glory of God is what RAG does.

One poignant moment was when Nick Dell had the chance to pray with a man that could not see.  Nick prayed for healing and the man received his sight.  So the team was not just there to help provide water, but to show people to the Living Water of Jesus Christ.  Teresa, the natural preacher she is, took every opportunity in villages to share the Gospel with anyone and everyone and many people received the salvation message because of her boldness and her attentiveness to hearing the Holy Spirit.

Our free time after dinner was spent cruising in the pontoon up and down the Zambezi River – spotting crocodiles and the occasional hippo.  A great way to end the days.
